Hemos hablado mucho últimamente sobre la importancia de innovar en caminos paralelos a los que se ha venido haciendo en los últimos meses, quizás años. Nos referimos a romper ya con la constante del aumento de núcleos, tamaño de pantalla y memoria RAM y empezar a mostrar novedades diferentes que nos demuestren que el mundo del smartphone todavía tiene mucho por crecer. Esto es lo que intenta Samsung con sus nuevos sensores de imagen.
Como os he contado en posts recientes sobre el tema de la fotografía digital en smartphones, las cámaras están compuestas de tres elementos principales: Sensor de imagen, objetivo y procesador. Estos tres componentes, electrónicos, mecánicos y ópticos, ofrecen combinados lo que conocemos como módulo fotográfico, o simplemente cámara. Aunque hay que aclarar que en muchas ocasiones el procesador quedar fuera y va a parte, lo que diferencia muchísimo una cámara de otra aunque monten el mismo módulo.
No son muchos los fabricantes que se atrevan a hacer el suyo propio, y es muy común acabar montando uno de Sony, que es posiblemente el mayor fabricante de módulos fotográficos para smartphones del mercado. Incluso Samsung recurre a ellos hasta en sus buque insignia (el GS4 lleva cámara Sony).
Ahora Samsung quiere cambiar esto con su propio módulo fotográfico. Se trata de una combinación de óptica y sensor que cuenta con 13MP. Según la compañía coreana dos son sus principales ventajas. Cuenta con una estabilización de imagen que afirman superior a la competencia y a sus anteriores modelos, alcanzando una corrección angular de 1.5º, comparado con correcciones anteriores de 0.7º. Esto significa que la cámara es capaz de grabar vídeos con movimientos mucho más naturales y de trabajar mejor en condiciones de poca luminosidad.
En este último aspecto de la baja luz, Samsung afirma que el nuevo sensor también trabaja mejor en este tipo de condiciones, consiguiendo captar la luz ocho veces mejor que previos modelos.
El módulo total tiene un tamaño de 10.5 x 10.5 x 5.9mm y además se ha mejorado el consumo para reducirlo. Empezaremos a ver esta cámara a partir de la primera mitad del 2014, y lo lógico sería que llegase con el próximo Galaxy S 5 o como decidan llamarlo.
